What is Tramadol and how does it work?
The exact way in which tramadol works is not fully recognized but it is thought to work in a similar way to morphine. Tramadol binds to the receptors in the brain that transmit the pain signal throughout the body thereby blocking that pain signal.
Dosage Information
The usual dose for adults with acute pain is: ONE or TWO capsules three to four times a day, this dose is recommended for short term acute use. For chronic pain the dose should be: ONE or TWO capsules at first, then ONE capsule every 4-6 hours according to severity of pain. The maximum dose is eight capsules in 24 hours unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor.
How to take Tramadol?
Tramadol capsules should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. Do Not drink alcohol with this medicine, tramadol capsules are not affected by food.
Possible Side Effects
Like all medicines, Tramadol capsules can cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them. Some of the more common side effects are: dizziness, feeling or being sick, drowsiness and tiredness, increased sweating, headache, dry mouth and constipation.
